Manageability through Configuration Management

You can get an overview of all applications, middleware components and deployments in your environment by storing information about them in Deployit’s repository. This configuration management database (CMDB) is the core of Deployit.

Configuration items stored in the CMDB allow you to keep detailed information about your environment, such as hostnames, login credentials, and more configuration parameters.

You can also store the relations between the configuration items in Deployit’s repository. For example, you can use relations to tell which applications have been deployed on what middleware, or what middleware components run on the same host.

A history of all the changes that have been made and who made them at what time is stored in the CMDB. This enables you to perform management queries on the information in Deployit’s repository.

You can configure who has access to what part of Deployit’s repository by configuring security domains. You can specify the actions a user is allowed to perform on the configuration items in a security domain.
